Does the Job Change Depending on the Town?
The method never does. A basement in Kings Park and an office suite in Hauppauge both get sampled first, then enclosed under HEPA scrubbers, worked wet, bagged and sealed for the landfill, then cleared by independent air sampling ahead of reoccupancy. Outside the five boroughs, New York State asbestos rules govern every step.
What does vary is where to look. Old village houses often hide plaster, pipe lagging and cement shingles. Postwar homes lean toward floor squares, black adhesive and textured ceilings. Commercial spaces add duct tape and materials tucked above drop ceilings. The sampling plan follows the building, so the important spots are covered.
