Asbestos Removal in Commack, NY That Ends With a Cleared Room
We test it, take it out, clean up after leaks and fires and sort out ACP-5 and stop work order paperwork. Every removal finishes the same way: an outside lab checks the air before your family or your builder walks back in.
Standard on every Commack job
Poly walls up first
Heavy plastic goes over floors, walls and doorways before a single piece is touched.
Filtered exhaust
HEPA air scrubbers keep the sealed room at lower pressure, so leaks flow in, never out.
Nothing handled dry
Amended water soaks each piece first. Damp fibers stay heavy and stay put.
Double-sealed waste
Debris rides out in labeled, sealed bags or wrapped bundles headed to a permitted landfill.
An outside air test
A separate firm samples the air, and the plastic stays up until the numbers pass.
Where Does Your Situation Fit?
Think of these as five doors. Behind one is the homeowner who already knows the boiler jacket has to go. Behind another is the person staring at a cracked tile wondering what it is. Somewhere in the middle is the builder whose city job just got a DEP notice taped to it. Find your door, then we can talk specifics.
Asbestos Removal
The main event. Boiler jackets, wrapped heat pipes, aging floor squares with their dark, tar-like adhesive, spray-on ceilings, wallboard mud, cement shingles and duct tape from another era, all taken out behind plastic before your remodel, sale or teardown goes ahead.
Emergency Asbestos Removal
Water, fire, wind or a too-eager sledgehammer broke something open. On the phone we explain which systems to switch off and which debris not to touch. Then a licensed crew seals the spot and cleans it the slow, careful way.
Asbestos Testing
Is it or isn't it? A certified inspector snips small samples, a lab accredited for this work runs them under the microscope and you get a yes or no for each material before anybody starts swinging a hammer.
ACP-5 Filing
For buildings you own or manage inside the five boroughs. Most Buildings Department permits there need an asbestos assessment signed by a DEP-certified investigator, and we arrange the survey behind it.
DEP Asbestos Stop Work Order Removal
Your city project got halted over asbestos. Getting it restarted usually means catching up the filings, abating with air monitoring in place and waiting on DEP to sign off. We take on the parts that sit on our side of the table.
So What Happens Once You Pick Up the Phone?
Start with a conversation
What kind of building is it? What did you find, and has anyone broken into it yet? Is there a closing date or a permit clock running? If the answer to the second question is yes, we start with safety steps. If not, we figure out which materials deserve a sample.
Lab answers, then a written plan
Samples go out to an accredited lab. Once results come back, you receive a plan on paper spelling out which materials are coming out, how the room will be closed off, which landfill gets the debris, how the final air test works and any notices the job requires.
Plastic, scrubbers, water
On work day the crew builds the enclosure, switches on the HEPA scrubbers and keeps everything soaked while it comes apart. Each load is sealed and tagged before it crosses the plastic doorway, so nothing dusty travels through your hallway.
Wipe down and pass the air test
Inside the plastic, HEPA vacuums go over every ledge and floor, followed by damp cloths. Then an independent company pulls air samples. Once they pass, we dismantle the enclosure and you get the room back, ready for people, pets and the next trade.
Why Should How We Work Matter to You?
With asbestos, a sloppy job and a careful job can look identical on the day. The difference shows up later, in dust that drifted where it should not have. These five habits are how we keep that from happening.
Handlers who hold the licenses
New York only lets licensed asbestos handlers do this work, so nobody else steps inside our enclosures. Each crew member knows how to build the plastic room, keep material soaked and take the setup apart without tracking anything out.
An enclosure you can trust to hold
Poly sheeting, taped-shut vents and registers, a zippered doorway and HEPA scrubbers running the whole shift. The kitchen next door, the bedroom upstairs and the office down the hall carry on as normal.
The lab before the bid
We would rather sample first and quote second. When the old linoleum comes back negative, it gets torn out like any other floor and stays off your asbestos bill.
A paper trail for the debris
Everything we take out is soaked, sealed twice or wrapped, tagged and trucked to a landfill permitted for it. You keep the disposal records, in case a buyer or inspector ever asks.
Filings that keep pace with the work
State notices for bigger jobs, ACP-5 assessments for city buildings and the paperwork behind a DEP stop work order move along with the abatement, so a permit desk is never the reason your schedule slips.
Which Towns Do We Cover?
Commack straddles the line between the towns of Huntington and Smithtown in western Suffolk County. Jericho Turnpike runs right through the middle, the Long Island Expressway crosses the south side and the Northern State Parkway is a few minutes away, so getting a crew anywhere nearby is rarely a long trip. A lot of the houses here were built in the years after the war, and that age shows up during renovations: wrapped heating pipes in the basement, small square tiles hiding under wall-to-wall carpet, a bumpy ceiling in the den. Beyond Commack we work in East Northport, Northport and Kings Park to the north, Dix Hills, Hauppauge and Smithtown on either side and Brentwood, Deer Park, Central Islip and Bay Shore to the south. If you live out here but own a building in the city, the same phone number handles ACP-5 and stop work order questions too.
Capes, ranches and hi-ranches
Long Island houses of a certain age tend to keep their asbestos in predictable spots: heat pipes, basement floors, ceilings and siding. We know where to check before we are asked.
Storefronts and office suites
A shop on the turnpike or a suite off the expressway gets the identical enclosure, timed around customers and tenants as best we can.
One number, every town
Whether the job sits in Kings Park, Deer Park or Bay Shore, (631) 230-6066 rings the same crew at any hour, from first sample to final air test.

Check if we reach your street: (631) 230-6066Wondering What That Old Tile Is Made Of?
Honestly, eyeballing it tells nobody anything, us included. On the phone we can point out which materials are usual suspects, explain how a lab result reads and sketch what a removal would look like if the answer comes back yes.

Which Questions Come Up Most Often?
The short answer comes first in each one. The reasoning follows.
Are commercial properties something you handle, or just homes?
We handle both. A dentist's office, a warehouse, a strip-mall unit or a garden apartment complex gets the same enclosure, wet removal and outside air test as a basement on a quiet street. When a building is occupied, we lay out the work around the people still using it and keep the property manager in the loop.
In New York City, whose signature goes on an ACP-5?
Only someone holding a DEP asbestos investigator certificate may sign it. Their survey covers the area the permit work will touch. When no regulated asbestos is going to be disturbed, they sign the form that rides along with the Buildings application. When the survey turns up asbestos in the way, that material gets abated under its own notification before the job proceeds.
Is anybody around to answer late at night or on weekends?
Yes. The phone is staffed 24/7, holidays included. When something has been broken open, we talk you through what to do until the crew shows up.
How would I find out if there is asbestos in my house?
Through sampling and lab analysis, since there is no other dependable way. A certified inspector cuts tiny pieces from materials that look suspicious and a lab identifies what is in them. If the house dates from before the mid-1980s and a renovation is coming, sampling first is a small step that heads off a far bigger mess.
Is asbestos removal something my home insurance will cover?
Sometimes, and it hinges on your particular policy and the cause. When a sudden covered loss like a burst pipe or a kitchen fire damages asbestos material, carriers may respond. Removing it ahead of a planned remodel is usually considered the owner's expense. The insurer has the final say, and we can hand you a written description of the work to share with the adjuster.
Can I leave asbestos tile where it is and floor over it?
In many cases, yes. Tile that is whole and still stuck down firmly can often stay underneath a new floating floor or underlayment, because undisturbed tile is not shedding fibers. Removal makes sense when the squares are broken or popping loose, or when the project calls for grinding, sanding or demolition through that layer.
Could my popcorn ceiling contain asbestos?
It could, especially in a house finished before the mid-1980s. Sprayed acoustic texture was a common place for asbestos, though many ceilings never had any. A small sample sent to the lab answers it before anyone gets a scraper out.
Is the wrapping on my boiler and heat pipes a hazard?
Mostly when it is damaged or about to be. Wrap that is whole and sealed is low risk if you leave it be, but torn or flaking insulation, or wrap that a plumber is about to cut away for a new boiler, can release fibers. Get it sampled, and if it is positive, have a licensed crew take it off before the heating work begins.
Who Are the People Doing the Work?
Commack Asbestos Removal is run for homeowners and builders who like to understand a job before it begins. We explain what the lab found, sketch how the enclosure will be built and describe what the final air test proves. Then the crew does exactly that, whether the job is one length of pipe wrap or a whole floor of old vinyl squares.
